Blue screen in the Microsoft office
I went to the Microsoft office in Toronto for a UX / UI career panel with a designer friend. It was on the 43rd floor of the CIBC building. It's so tall that your ears pop in the elevator. I really felt like a corpo suit in this upscale place.
The event was alright. They didn't talk about design very much despite it being geared towards UX students. When design was mentioned, they said that we should use AI as an extra pair of hands to accelerate your work, which I can agree with. The career advice was solid, too.
I did feel pretty cynical thinking about how AI is supposed to help us while being inside the Microsoft office. Microsoft had recently laid off about 6,000 workers, nearly 3% of it's workforce, apparently to allocate more money for AI.[1] These people's lives haven't been helped by AI...
